An overview of our Classes
Linslade Obedience and Ringcraft Club runs four dog training classes on Tuesday evenings. The first class, Class 1  teaches the the dog the basics of understanding it’s handler and the handler the basics of understanding the puppy. Generally this class is for dogs up to 12 months of age, and as such there may be some older dogs in the class. This class works towards the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Puppy Foundation certificate. The next Class, 2  is for graduates from the Class 1 working towards their Bronze certificate, it is also where we start ‘rescue dogs’ that have little or no previous training. Mature dogs that would benefit from structured training are also started in this class. Here we work towards the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bronze certificate. Class 3 is for graduates from Class 2, here the focus is on developing the skills to enable the handlers to achieve a KCGCDS Bronze and Silver certificates in addition to expanding their other skills. The final Class, 4, is for handlers aiming to achieve a KCGCDS Silver and Gold certificates. This class also has long standing members who have reached the Gold level and use the class to maintain their dogs enthusiasm for learning and, hopefully to provide a entertaining evening out for the dog. All Classes are structured around the relevant Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme exercises and are based on ‘reward’ based training. All dogs are required to wear a legal means of identification and to be able to present a valid vaccination certificate. It is a legal requirement that all dogs are required to have a working microchip, the Club will check dogs as part of the Good Citizen Scheme and advise owners of their legal obligations if necessary.
